OFW comes home to dead husband, child in Baguio landslide 

Tragedy greeted an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who came home to her dead husband and child after they were killed in the Baguio landslide.

A landslide in Baguio killed 10 people after continuous rains; many of the victims came from the same family.

In a "24 Oras" report from Marisol Abdurahman on Thursday, an OFW came home to find that her husband, her child, and her two grandchildren were dead.

Alenor, another mother, survived the landslide and is recovering from her wounds. However, she kept on asking about her two children—both of whom were killed in the landslide.

A relative said they had to keep the truth from her for now, as her condition might worsen.

“Talagang hinahanap niya 'yung mga bata… wala po akong nagawa kundi magsinungaling kasi nga po kung sinabi ko 'yung totoo baka siya rin po 'yung bumigay,” her relative Rebecca Caluza said.

(She is really looking for the kids… I could not do anything but lie because if I said the truth she might also give up.)

Jessie Bulatao also lost his child and grandchild. He also could not bring himself to accept what had happened.

The remaining survivors must now relocate after their area was declared a prohibited zone. Caluza said that while they had good memories in their home, it was now tainted by the most painful one.

“Di na rin namin kayang balikan,” Caluza said. (We cannot return there.) —Jean Mangaluz/LDF, GMA News
