BARMM chief minister Macacua's convoy ambushed in Maguindanao del Norte
MAGUINDANAO DEL NORTE — Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua and his entourage escaped unharmed after armed assailants ambushed their convoy at around 4:45 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Dulangan, Datu Odin Sinsuat.
Gunfire hit three vehicles in the chief minister’s convoy, but all passengers and security personnel emerged safe and uninjured.
Macacua was traveling from his hometown in Barangay Gambar, Mother Kabuntalan, where he had attended the proclamation rally of the Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP), the party he recently joined and where he was named chairman after previously running as an independent candidate in the province’s 3rd district.
The situation inside the Bangsamoro Government Center remains tense following the attack, with security tightened as authorities conduct follow-up operations and investigate the incident. — VBL, GMA News
