River overflows anew, isolate residents in Zambales
The Sta. Fe River in San Marcelino, Zambales overflowed again, flooding several government buildings and leaving hundreds of residents isolated after floodwaters damaged a dike and swept a bridge away.
Floodwaters reached up to four feet in some areas as continuous rain from the southwest monsoon caused the river to rise.
Residents living north of the river remained isolated after the dike broke and strong currents carried away the bridge that connected the area to other communities.
Authorities urged residents to remain alert and follow safety advisories as rain continued.
Meanwhile, 336 families, or 1,076 people, have evacuated in Olongapo City because of flooding.
The largest number of evacuees came from Barangay Sta. Rita. Others were evacuated from New Kababae, New Ilalim, Mab yanguan, Old Cabalan, Kalaklan, Gordon Heights, West Tapinac and West Bajac-Bajac.
Authorities continued to monitor the evacuees and said they were providing their basic needs. —CJ Torida, GMA Regional TV News
