DAM LEVELS: Angat, Pantabangan, 3 others rise; remain below normal high levels

Angat Dam, Pantabangan Dam and three other water reservoirs recorded increases in their water levels over the past 24 hours, according to PAGASA’s 8 a.m. update on Sunday.

Angat Dam in Norzagaray posted the largest increase at 0.63 meters, rising from 190.47 meters on Saturday to 191.10 meters on Sunday.

Increases were also recorded at Ipo Dam, also in Norzagaray, Bulacan (+0.32 meters), Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet (+0.11 meters), Pantabangan Dam in Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija (+0.45 meters), and Caliraya Dam in Lumban, Laguna (+0.08 meters).

The increases were attributed to rainfall brought by the southwest monsoon, or Habagat, which has been affecting parts of Luzon.

Meanwhile, slight declines were recorded at La Mesa Dam in Quezon City (-0.06 meters), Binga Dam in Itogon, Benguet (-0.23 meters), San Roque Dam in San Manuel, Pangasinan (-0.27 meters), and Magat Dam in Ramon, Isabela (-0.13 meters) over the same period.

Binga Dam increased the number of its open gates from one to two, with a discharge of 191.93 cubic meters per second (cms). Ambuklao Dam continued to have one open gate, discharging 143.4 cms.

Water levels at all reservoirs remained below their respective normal high water levels (NHWLs). PAGASA did not indicate an NHWL for Caliraya Dam in its update.— MCG, GMA News
