In 1986, millions of Filipinos gathered along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue, more popularly known as EDSA, to oust a dictator and restore democracy to the Philippines. Twenty-five years later, the multitudes still converge on EDSA every day, comprising a vibrant microcosm of society. In 2006, Howie Severino and his I-Witness team walked along the length of EDSA to see what they might learn about how Filipinos have fared in the 20 years since the People Power Revolution. Along the way, they meet a host of different characters-- including a group of rugby boys, a poet and former political detainee, a wealthy idealist, a Muslim woman unsure if EDSA was inclusive of all Filipinos --each with a story to tell about the state of their lives, all a reflection of the Philippines 20 years after EDSA 1. The documentary raised some questions about our country: Did life get better for Filipinos after EDSA 1? What has changed, and what hasn't? As the nation marks the 25th anniversary of the EDSA Revolution in 2011, GMA News Online is posting this documentary in full. -GMA News Online
