The GMA News Browser: What happened when in 2011
2011 wasn't the country's best of times, but neither was it going to be the worst... until Sendong. As the holiday season was kicking in, the nation's deadliest storm in over a decade raked through northern Mindanao and claimed over a thousand lives. But still, the year's worst news was in Japan, which in March was triple-whammied by an earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis in rapid succession. The rest of the year was dominated by news related to what optimists might call a cleansing of the body politic: the suicide of a conscience-stricken general, Senate testimonies on military corruption, the Ombudsman's downfall, a Senator's resignation, the hospital arrest of a wheelchair-bound former President, and the impeachment of a Chief Justice. Providing momentary escapism were a couple of ho-hum Pacquiao bouts, a royal wedding, and a sashaying Shamcey. Mouse over our GMA News Browser below for links to the year's top stories.
