Lintang Bedol, pinapakasuhan ng Ombudsman

MANILA – Iniutos ng Office of the Ombudsman ang pagsasampa ng kasong katiwalian laban kay Maguindanao election supervisor Lintang Bedol dahil sa partisipasyon nito sa umano’y dayaan sa halalan sa Maguindanao noong 2007. Sa isang pahayag nitong Huwebes mula sa Office of the Ombudsman, sinabing si Deputy Ombudsman for Mindanao Humphrey Monteroso ang nag-utos na kasuhan si Bedol batay sa reklamong inihain ni Atty Ferdinand Rafanan, pinuno ng Law Department ng Commission on Elections (Comelec). Isasampa ng Office of the Ombudsman ang graft case laban kay Bedol sa Cotabato City Regional Trial Court. Nagtakda ang Ombudsman ng P30,000 piyansa para sa pansamantala niyang kalayaan. Sinasabing inatasan ni Bedol ang mga local election official na ibigay sa kanya ang mga kopya ng Municipal Certificate of Canvass (MCOC), Election Returns (ER), Statement of Votes (SOV) at Summary Statement of Votes (SSOV) na nakuha sa lahat ng presinto sa mga munisipalidad ng Maguindanao noong 2007 mid-term elections. Ang mga nabanggit na dokumento ay naglalaman ng resulta ng bilangan ng mga boto sa local at national positions. "Thereafter however, the said documents could no longer be located by Comelec officials despite stringent measures adopted for its safekeeping. "As a result, the votes for the province of Maguindanao were not transmitted to the Comelec, thereby causing undue injury to the government as the canvassing of votes for Senatorial and party-list were unnecessarily delayed and the loss of these documents tainted the image and credibility of the Comelec as a constitutional and independent body," ayon sa pahayag ng Ombudsman. Matapos ang apat na taong pagtatago, lumantad si Bedol nitong Martes. Kasalukuyan siyang nakaditene sa Philippine National Police's Custodial Center sa Camp Crame, Quezon City. Una rito, nagpalabas ng arrest order ang Comelec laban kay Bedol matapos siya i- contempt dahil sa hindi niya pagsipot sa isinagawang imbestigasyon tungkol sa umano’y dayaan sa halalan noong 2007. -- GMA News
