De Lima dudang pulis ang nakapatay sa isang residente sa P'que demolition

Hindi kumbinsido si Justice Secretary Leila de Lima na pulis ang nakapatay sa isang residente sa marahas na demolisyong naganap sa Silverio Compound sa Parañaque nitong Lunes. Ayon kay De Lima, sa isang short firearm nanggaling ang balang pumatay kay Arnel Tolentino (naunang kinilala bilang Arnel Leonor) batay sa medico-legal report ng National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). "According to the medico-legal doctor, by the very nature of the wound, the gunshot could have come from a handgun, either a 9mm or a 38-cal [pistol] so hindi raw long [firearm] or an M6 rifle," ani De Lima. Ayon kay De Lima, long firearms ang ginamit ng mga miyembro ng Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team na ipinadala sa Silverio Compound upang tumulong ibalik ang kaayusan doon. "Based on information, ang SWAT team na nag-assist sa demolition ay naka-M16 so it would appear it did not come from them. So if that is true, kung ang ano nila ay M16, that would have to be taken into account," aniya. Sa kabila nito, iginiit ni De Lima na inisyal pa lamang ang naturang findings bagama’t gagamitin pa rin ito sa ginagawang imbestigasyon ng NBI. Maliban na NBI, nagsasagawa rin ng imbestigasyon ang Philippine National Police at Commission on Human Rights. Ayon kay De Lima, aalamin ng NBI kung ang mga awtoridad na sangkot sa insidente ay sumunod sa "rule of proportionality" habang kinokontrol ang gulo. "We will find out whether there was excessive force... That has to be looked into... Para sa akin key iyon kasi the demolition team may have the legal basis to really undertake that activity, that operation," aniya.   "But it is always understood that it should not be at the expense of unnecessary injuries, harm, and death of innocent civilians,” dagdag pa ni De Lima, na nagsilbing CHR chairperson noong panahon ni dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
