Senado, planong ililipat sa Fort Bonifacio mula sa Pasay City sa 2020

Mayorya ng mga senador ang bumoto pabor na ilipat ang Senado sa Fort Bonifacio saTaguig City sa 2020 mula sa kasalukuyang lokasyon nito sa Pasay City.

Ayon kay Sen. Panfilo Lacson, chairman ng Senate committee on accounts, “17-year-old idea” na ang mungkahing ilipat ang Senado. 

“It is about time that we turn this long-standing dream into reality. If we do not take action now, I am afraid that there will only be talks and talks, again and again, about this matter in the future till kingdom come. And I tell you, it will be a never-ending comic cycle,” sabi ni Lacson.

Mula 1996, nirerentahan ng Senado ang gusali ng Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) at ginagamit ang parking lot mula sa Social Security System (SSS) sa Pasay City.

Ang naturang renta mula sa GSIS at SSS ay umabot na umano sa P2.24 bilyon mula May 1996 hanggang sa December 2017.

“Suffice it to say, Mr. President, that for over 20 years, the cost of our lease payments have probably become enough to construct an iconic, permanent Senate building,” paliwanag ng senador.

Ang paglilipatan ng Senado sa Taguig City na inialok umano ng Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) ay ang lugar na dating kinatatayuan ng Navy Village sa Fort Bonifacio.

Aabot sa P1.8 bilyon ang gagastusin sa pagpapatayo ng gusali sa 20,000-square-meter property na babayaran umano sa loob ng 10 taon o higit pa.

“Based on their proposed timeline, the construction of the Senate building can start on the third quarter of 2018 and be finished by the third quarter of 2020,” ani Lacson.

Iminungkahi ni Lacson na maglaan ng P1.5 bilyon na paunang pondo sa naturang proyekto sa paglilipat ng Senado.  — FRJ/NB, GMA News
