Norway looks into death of seniors inoculated with Pfizer vaccine

Twenty-three Norwegian senior citizens who were vaccinated with Pfizer-BionNTech’s vaccine against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) died, according to Mav Gonzales’ report on “24 Oras Weekend.”

“23 deaths associated with COVID-19 vaccination of which 13 have been assessed. Common adverse reactions may have contributed to a severe course in elderly people who are frail,” the report of the Norwegian Medicines agency read.

Norwegian Medicines Agency Chief Physician Sigurd Hortemo said common side effects of the vaccine such as fever and nausea may be fatal for frail patients.

Pfizer's mRNA vaccine were given to the patients.

“The Large studies on Comirnaty… did not include patients with unstable or acute illness — and included few participants over 85 years of age,” the report read.

“In Norway, we are now vaccinating the elderly and people in nursing homes with serious underlying diseases, therefore it is expected that deaths close to the time vaccination may occur,” it added. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
