Magnitude 5.7 quake strikes off Japan’s Honshu, EMSC says


An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 struck off the east coast of Honshu, Japan, on Wednesday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center said.

The quake was at a depth of 31 km, EMSC said. It earlier put the magnitude at 6.5 and depth at 57 km.

There were no immediate reports of damage after the quake.

On Monday evening a 7.6 magnitude quake shook northeastern Japan, prompting tsunami warnings and orders for about 90,000 residents to evacuate. — Reuters
