Pope Leo XIV went on social media to suggest a "precious gift" this Christmas.

The Pontiff described it as a "more precious gift than any that can be bought."

“Before the holy night of Christmas, find one person with whom to make peace. This will be a more precious gift than any that can be bought," said Pope Leo on X.

"Because peace is a gift found only in the heart,” he added.

His call echoes sentiments and messages being preached on Simbang Gabi by Filipino priests nationwide.

On the second day of Simbang Gabi, catholics were called to “do what is right” and forgivE each other in time for Christmas.

“How do we do it? By making our lives burn brighter than those who are in darkness. We do it when we do forgive each other, especially family members who hurt us,” Ateneo de Manila Senior High School Chaplain Fr. Noel Bava said in his homily.

“By bringing our lamps to those excluded by society, the poor, the victims of calamities, those in prisons, our brothers and sisters suffering from addiction,” he added.

He further said, “By keeping faith even as we experience momentary doubts because of many problems and concerns.”

For 2025, Church authorities called on Catholics to host “Christ-centered” Christmas celebrations that bring joy and healing.

“Christmas is not about extravagance. It is not about noise, fireworks or lavish food… Let Christmas be about family, prayer, and faith,” said Cebu Archbishop Albert "Abet" Uy. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
