Habagat rains to drench Luzon, Visayas; TD Pilandok east of Northern Luzon

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, is expected to bring more rain over Luzon and the Visayas on Monday, August 31, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the Habagat is expected to bring monsoon rains over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga.

Occasional rains are expected in Metro Manila, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

The Habagat is also expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region. Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the Visayas.

In Mindanao, localized thunderstorms are expected to affect the region’s weather conditions, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

As of 3 p.m., the center of Tropical Depression Pilandok was estimated at 1,215 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 55 kilometers per hour.

Another low-pressure area (LPA 08l) is being monitored outside the PAR and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression, PAGASA said.

Meanwhile, another low-pressure area, LPA 08K, formerly TD Saudel, also has a medium chance of redeveloping into a tropical depression. It is still being monitored outside the PAR.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in Luzon, with waves running from 1.5 meters to 4.0 meters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 0.6 meters to 2.1 meters.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Sunday reached 28.5 degrees Celsius at 11 a.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 25.4 degrees Celsius at 2 a.m.
