LPA dissipated outside of PAR

A low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) had dissipated, according to the state weather bureau on Thursday.

However, another LPA outside of PAR still has a medium chance of developing, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Tropical Storm Pilandok (international name “Krovanh”) is also still being monitored within the PAR, and it is currently 1,015 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon. It is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h and gustiness of 80 km/h.

Tropical Storm Saudel (formerly “Obet”) is being monitored outside the PAR.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said that it is still the southwest monsoon causing rains over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Batanes, and Zambales.

Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Ilocos Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Central Luzon, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, and Antique are also expected to experience cloudy skies and rains because of the southwest monsoon.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas may have partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers.

Affected areas are advised by PAGASA of possible flash floods and landslides during times of heavier rains. — BAP, GMA News
