Habagat to bring rains, thunderstorms over parts of Luzon, Visayas

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to affect Luzon and Visayas, bringing occasional rains and thunderstorms over several areas on Sunday, PAGASA said.

Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro will experience occasional rains, with moderate to heavy downpours that may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Visayas, the rest of Central Luzon, the rest of MIMAROPA, Rizal and Laguna will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

Moderate to at times heavy rains may also cause flash floods or landslides, according to PAGASA.

The rest of Luzon and Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, while Mindanao will experience similar conditions due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Krovanh, formerly known as Pilandok, was outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 a.m.

Krovanh was located 875 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It was moving east-southeastward at 10 kph.

Moderate to strong winds from the southwest to west are expected over extreme Northern Luzon, where coastal waters may reach 1.5 to 3.4 meters.

The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from the southwest, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters. The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds from the south to southwest, with coastal waters of 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
