Habagat to bring rains over Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas; monitoring 2 LPAs outside PAR

The southwest monsoon (habagat) is expected to bring cloudy skies with occasional rains over Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas as two Low Pressure Areas (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) are being monitored on Friday, PAGASA reported.

As of 2 a.m., LPA 09b is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, another Low Pressure Area (LPA 09c) is being monitored outside the PAR and is not likely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Forecast Weather Conditions

Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan will have occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon as flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Northern Samar will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms and flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

The wind speed forecast for Northern Luzon is light to moderate moving in the southeast to northeast direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Visayas and the rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southwest to south direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The wind speed forecast for Mindanao is light to moderate moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
