Queenie maintains strength, to exit PAR by weekend

Tropical Storm Queenie maintained its strength as it continues to move in the west northwest direction late Thursday evening, according to the 11 p.m. Tropical Cyclone Bulletin posted by PAGASA.

The center of Tropical Storm Queenie was estimated at 1,105 kilometers east of Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h, and moving west northwestward at the speed of 20 km/h.

There are no wind signals raised as Queenie is not likely to directly affect the country throughout the forecast period.

Hazards affecting coastal waters

The coastal waters have forecast wave heights of less than 2.0 m., the state weather bureau said.

Track and Intensity Outlook

PAGASA said Queenie will move west northwestward until Friday, September 25, 2026 before turning north northeastward by Sunday September, 27 and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

"This tropical cyclone will gradually intensify while inside PAR. It may reach typhoon category by Sunday," the agency added. — BAP, GMA News
