Trough of Typhoon Choi-wan affecting Visayas, Mindanao

The trough of Typhoon Choi-Wan is expected to affect the weather conditions of Visayas and Mindanao on October 4, 2026, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday.

In PAGASA’s 4 p.m. bulletin, the trough is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Mindanao, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, and Southern Leyte.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

As of 3 p.m., Typhoon Choi-Wan was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 2,580 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

Moving northeastward, Choi-Wan has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gusts of up to 170 kph.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the country. Waves are expected to run from 0.6 meters to 1.2 meters.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Saturday reached 31.8 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 24.8 degrees Celsius at 5:00 a.m.
