The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of Mindanao and Palawan on Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

In its 4 a.m. weather forecast, PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental and Palawan.

The ITCZ will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over SOCCSKSARGEN and the rest of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), with flash floods or landslides possible during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Quezon and Camarines Norte, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised the public to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Light to moderate winds from the northeast to east will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao, resulting in slight to moderate coastal waters with wave heights of 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the southeast to northeast, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters.

As of 3 a.m. Sunday, Typhoon Champi was located 2,260 kilometers east of Southern Luzon, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Champi had maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 230 kph. It was moving west northwestward at 25 kph.

At the PAGASA Science Garden station in Quezon City, the temperature on Saturday reached a high of 33.5 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m. and a low of 25.3 degrees Celsius at 5 a.m.

Sunrise will be at 5:48 a.m. and sunset at 5:35 p.m. on Sunday.—MCG, GMA News
