The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, Bicol Region, Romblon and Palawan on Sunday, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, meanwhile, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA cautioned that severe thunderstorms could also trigger flash floods or landslides.

Moderate to rough coastal waters, with wave heights of 1.5 to 2.5 meters, are expected over extreme Northern Luzon, where moderate winds will blow from the northeast.

Light to moderate winds will prevail over Central Luzon, the eastern section of Southern Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate, or 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

The eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds from the northeast to northwest, while the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds from the southwest to northwest. Coastal waters in these areas will also range from slight to moderate.

The sun is expected to rise at 5:49 a.m. and set at 5:31 p.m. on Sunday, PAGASA said.— MCG, GMA News
