Amang maintains strength, may weaken to LPA; 7 areas under Signal No. 1
Tropical Cylone Warning Signal No. 1 was hoisted over seven areas on Monday as Tropical Depression Amang maintained its strength while remaining over the eastern seaboard of Eastern Samar, weather agency PAGASA said on Monday.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said these areas are under TCWS No. 1:
- Sorsogon
- Masbate including Ticao Island
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
As of 10 a.m. Monday, Amang was spotted 40 kilometers north northeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar or 45 kilometers east southeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 60 kilometers per hour.
Amang is moving north at 10 kilometers per hour, according to PAGASA.
PAGASA said residents in Eastern Visayas and Bicol region will encounter moderate to heavy rains on Monday.
It added that moderate to heavy rains will also be experienced in Eastern Visayas, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate.
Residents in these areas were advised to take appropriate measures against flooding and landslides.
Fisherfolk and those with small seacraft were advised not to venture out over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas, Dinagat Islands and Surigao del Norte, including all seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 1 due to Amang and the surge of the northeast monsoon (amihan).
