Southwest monsoon or habagat will bring rainshowers to parts of Luzon, Visayas

Tropical Depression Dodong exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday evening but GMA Resident Meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz advised the public to be ready for rains on Thursday.

Dodong and was spotted early Thursday morning at 1,165 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon, PAGASA reported.

Dodong has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour with gustiness of up to 60 kph and moving north northeast at 35 kph.

Mang Tani said a Low Pressure Area (LPA), was spotted outside PAR or about 1,320 kilometers east of Mindanao, may develop into a storm and may enter PAR on Friday.

However, as of Thursday morning the LPA will have no effect on the country.

But the southwest monsoon or habagat will bring rains in Luzon and Visayas.

Meanwhile, PAGASA reported that Metro Manila and the provinces of Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro and Palawan will have monsoon rains due to the southwest monsoon.

The Ilocos Region, Visayas, the rest of central Luzon, of MIMAROPA and of CALABARZON will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers brought about by the southwest monsoon.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau warns that flash floods and landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms. — BAP, GMA News
