The Bicol Region and eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the trough of Tropical Depression Onyok, PAGASA reported in its early morning weather forecast.

As of 4 a.m. on Saturday, the center of Tropical Depression Onyok was estimated at 1,100 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes moving northwest at 30 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Onyok is not expected to make landfall.

However, it may intensify and become a tropical storm in 24 hours.

No tropical cyclone wind signals were raised.

Onyok is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday morning when it will be located 680 km north northeast of Basco, Batanes.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving northeastward while coastal waters will remain moderate to rough.

Meanwhile, the wind speed in the Visayas and the rest of Luzon will be light to moderate moving northeast to east direction with coastal waters slight to moderate.

For Mindanao, the wind speed forecast is light to moderate moving southwest to west while coastal waters will be slight to moderate. — BAP/KG, GMA News
