Dagupan, Sangley Point record day’s highest heat index at 47°C


PAGASA’s synoptic stations in Dagupan City and in Sangley Point in Cavite recorded the highest heat index in the country on Sunday at 47°C.

The state weather bureau said the two were followed by Ambulong in Batangas and Dipolog with 44°C.

Meanwhile, CLSU Muñoz in Nueva Ecija, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and Laoag City experienced 43°C.

Casiguran in Aurora, Clark Airport, Davao City, El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental, Masbate City, and Tuguegarao City all experienced 42°C.

Further, Cubi Point in Subic, Butuan City, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, Sinait in Ilocos, and Tayabas City recorded 41°C.

PAGASA warned anew that a heat index ranging from 41°C to 54°C may lead to heat cramps and exhaustion. Heat stroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity.

PAGASA advised the public to stay indoors as much as possible, wear lightweight and light colored clothing, and drink plenty of water regularly. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
