Habagat to bring monsoon rains over the Ilocos Region and nearby areas
The effects of the southwest monsoon will be felt in many parts the country on Thursday, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.
The Ilocos Region, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Occidental Mindoro will experience monsoon rains brought about by the southwest monsoon with possible flooding and rain-induced landslides due to scattered to widespread moderate to at times heavy rains.
Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, and Western Visayas will experience occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon with possible flooding and rain-induced landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
The weather bureau, meanwhile, is also monitoring active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Tropical Depression In-Fa (formerly Fabian) is located 1,600 kilometers north northwest of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 75 kph moving northward at 15 kph.
The wind speed forecast for Luzon and Visayas will be moderate to strong moving southwestward while coastal waters will be moderate to strong.
Mindanao will have light to moderate wind speed moving southwestward while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
