'Danger level' heat index expected in 3 areas on March 13, 2025

A “danger level” heat index is expected to be felt in four areas in the country on Thursday, PAGASA said in its daily forecast.

Based on its 5 p.m. March 12 bulletin, the state weather bureau said Dagupan City, Pangasinan will experience temperature that could reach 45°C.

Meanwhile, Virac (Synop), Catanduanes and Cotabato City, Maguindanao are expected to have temperature up to 42°C.

The heat index is the measure of the temperature that a person feels in contrast to the actual air temperature. It is computed by factoring in the humidity as well as the air temperature.

A heat index between 42°C and 51°C is considered in the danger category, posing health risks such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

In Metro Manila, a 40°C temperature is expected to hit NAIA Pasay City while Science Garden, Quezon City would reach a 38°C temperature.

On Wednesday, Dagupan City had a heat index of 45°C.

Puetro Princesa City, Palawan, Virac (Synop), Catanduanex, and Cotabato City, Maguindanao experienced 42°C temperature.

PAGASA earlier said the hot season in 2025 will likely not be as hot compared to 2024, but the public should still take precautions over the high heat index. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
