LPA inside PAR has ‘medium’ chance of becoming tropical depression — PAGASA

The low pressure area (LPA) observed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Wednesday afternoon.

As of 3 p.m., the LPA is located 600 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.

PAGASA also said that as of 2 p.m., Tropical Storm "Wutip" is being monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

For now, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to affect several parts of the country in the next 24 hours.

In its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said these areas are Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

The moderate to heavy with at times intense rains may cause flash floods or landslides.

Occasional rains will be observed over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Cavite, Batangas, Romblon, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Antique, Negros Occidental, Guimaras, and Northern Samar due to the Habagat.

The rest of Central Luzon, rest of Bicol Region, rest of MIMAROPA, rest of Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, La Union, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also due to Habagat.

Possible flash floods or landslides may persist in affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.

The Habagat may also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms throughout the rest of Mindanao.

The same weather conditions is expected throughout the rest of Luzon due to localized thunderstorms.

These severe thunderstorms may trigger flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas may see moderate to strong wind conditions and moderate to rough coastal water conditions

Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate in Northern and Central Luzon and the rest of the country.
