LPA west of Babuyan Islands now Tropical Depression Emong
The low pressure area located west of Babuyan Islands developed into a tropical depression on Wednesday morning and was named Emong, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
“At 8:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area west of Babuyan Islands developed into a Tropical Depression #EmongPH,” PAGASA said.
“Tropical Cyclone Bulletin will be issued beginning at 11:00 AM today,” it added.
Emong was located 105 km northwest of Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 55 kph.
Emong was moving west southwest at 35 kph.
Meanwhile, another tropical cyclone, Tropical Depression Dante, intensified into a tropical storm on Wednesday morning.
Dante as of 8 a.m. was located 880 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 80 kph.
The tropical storm was moving north northwest at 15 kph.
Meanwhile, the LPA located 2,340 km east of Eastern Visayas has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next 4 hours. —Joviland Rita/KG/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
