Cloudy skies, rain showers expected due to Habagat; storm seen outside PAR
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will continue to affect the country, PAGASA said in its weather forecast early Saturday morning.
MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, the Bicol Region, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Winds will be light to moderate along with slight to moderate seas.
Sunrise will be at 5:41 a.m., while sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.
Podul/Gorio
Meanwhile, PAGASA is monitoring Tropical Storm Podul which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 3 a.m., Podul was located at 2,230 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and with gustiness of up to 105 km/h.
Podul is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.
According to DOST-PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda in PAGASA's 5 a.m. public weather forecast, Podul may intensify and possibly be a typhoon before it enters PAR on Sunday night or Monday morning.
Once it enters PAR, Podul will be named Gorio.
PAGASA's track analysis shows Podul may have a downward shift as if moves westward. If this happens, strong winds may possibly be felt in Extreme Northern Luzon.
Currently though, Podul has no effect yet on the country.
Fabian
Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Fabian exited PAR at 1 a.m. Saturday, according to PAGASA.
Fabian, the sixth tropical cyclone to enter the PAR this year, is expected to weaken into a low pressure area. —VBL/KG, GMA Integrated News
