Protesters may experience rainy weather on September 21 —PAGASA
Protesters would need to bring their raincoats and umbrellas as rainy weather may be experienced over Metro Manila and nearby areas on Sunday, September 21, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.
PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said that cloudy skies with light to moderate rains are expected on Sunday morning. But the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat may be felt by afternoon.
“Bale sa araw ng Linggo, kung saan mayroon tayong malawakang rally over Metro Manila, we’re expecting sa morning, mostly cloudy skies na at mayroon mga light to moderate rains,” he said in a press briefing.
(So on Sunday, when we have a widespread rally over Metro Manila, we're expecting mostly cloudy skies and there will be light to moderate rains in the morning.)
“Then sa dakong hapon ayun 'yung time kung saan mas maraming lugar na sa western Luzon yung magkakaroon ng epekto ng Habagat - itong Metro Manila, nearby areas such as Cavite, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, down to Batangas hanggang sa Mimaropa, mayroon tayong mga moderate to at times heavy rains,” he added.
(Then in the afternoon, that's the time when more areas in western Luzon will experience the effects of the Southwest Monsoon - this includes Metro Manila, nearby areas such as Cavite, Bulacan, Zambales, Bataan, down to Batangas, up to Mimaropa, we will have moderate to at times heavy rains.)
There will be massive rallies to be held in Luneta Park in Manila and in EDSA Shrine on Sunday as groups call for action against corruption.
Further, the rainy weather condition due to Tropical Storm Nando will persist until Monday, the state weather bureau added.
“Posibleng magtagal ‘yan hanggang sa araw ng Monday, actually pwede pang mas lumakas pa sa araw ng Monday kasi ayun 'yung araw na kung saan papalapit na talaga siya sa kalupaan ng extreme northern Luzon,” said Estareja.
(It's possible that it will last until Monday, actually it could even get stronger on Monday because that's the day when it will really be getting closer to the landmass of extreme northern Luzon.)
PAGASA earlier said that tropical cyclone wind signal warnings may be hoisted over northern Luzon on Saturday as Nando slightly accelerated.
It added that Nando may reach super typhoon category by Monday. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/AOL, GMA Integrated News
