Heavy rainfall expected due to Nando, Habagat - PAGASA
Typhoon Nando and the Southwest Monsoon are expected to bring heavy rains over many parts of the country beginning Sunday, September 21, 2025.
In its 5 a.m. weather advisory, the state weather bureau said a heavy rainfall outlook due to Tropical Cyclone Nando (International name: Ragasa).
For Sunday, 100-200 mm of rain is expected over the province of Cagayan due to the typhoon.
In Batanes, Apayao, Zambales, and Bataan, residents are expected to experience 50-100 mm of rainfall.
A heavier deluge is expected Monday as Nando continues to intensify with greater than 200 mm over Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Batanes, and Cagayan while 100-200 mm of rain is expected to fall on Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Kalinga. Rainfall of 50-100 mm is also predicted over Pangasinan, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Zambales, Bataan, and Tarlac.
On Tuesday, Sept. 23, 50-100 mm of rainfall is the forecast for Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Benguet, Batanes, and Cagayan.
Habagat
For Sunday, a heavy rainfall outlook of Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Antique, and Palawan due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is moderate to heavy 50-100 mm.
On Monday, 50-100 mm is predicted for Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
This coming Tuesday (Sept. 23), moderate to heavy (50-100 mm) rain will be experienced over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
"Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall," PAGASA said.
The agency advised concerned public disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned "to take all necessary measures to protect life and property."
"PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings/Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather information specific to their areas of responsibility as appropriate," it added.
