Nando makes landfall over Panuitan Island in Cagayan

Super Typhoon Nando made landfall over Panuitan Island in Calayan, Cagayan on Monday afternoon, the state weather bureau PAGASA said. 

PAGASA said that Nando made landfall over the area at 3 p.m. 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 remains up over Babuyan Islands as Life-threatening conditions still persist over the northern portion of northern Luzon

According  to PAGASA, Nando may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning, September 23. 

Life-threatening conditions still persist over the northern portion of northern Luzon as Super Typhoon Nando passed very close to Babuyan Islands, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, a low pressure area (LPA) that is being monitored outside of the PAR has a medium chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said. 

The LPA, tagged as LPA 09f, was monitored 1,590 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.

As of 2 p.m.,  PAGASA said the center of Nando was monitored over the coastal waters of Babuyan Islands in Calayan, Cagayan, moving westward at 25 kilometers per hour and packing maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 295 kph. 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 remains up over Babuyan Islands.

  • The southern portion of Batanes (Basco, Mahatao, Ivana, Uyugan, Sabtang)
  • the northern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros, Aparri, Buguey, Santa Teresita, Gonzaga, Camalaniugan)
  • the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Burgos, Bangui, Dumalneg, Adams)

  • The rest of Batanes, the central portion of mainland Cagayan (Lal-Lo, Gattaran, Baggao, Alcala, Santo Niño, Lasam, Allacapan, Rizal, Amulung, Piat)

  •  the rest of Ilocos Norte
