Orange rainfall warning raised over Metro Manila, 7 other areas
PAGASA on Monday afternoon warned residents in Metro Manila and seven nearby provinces of threatening floods after an orange rainfall warning was hoisted over them.
An orange rainfall warning means flooding is threatening in the low-lying areas and near river channels in the following region and provinces:
- Metro Manila
- Bataan
- Zambales
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Tarlac
- Rizal (Rodriguez, San Mateo, Antipolo, Teresa, Baras, Morong, Binangonan, Cardona, Taytay, Cainta, Angono)
- Cavite(Bacoor, Imus, Kawit, Noveleta, Tanza, Rosario, General Trias, Naic, Trece Martires, Dasmarinas, Cavite City).
Meanwhile, a yellow rainfall warning was hoisted over the following locations:
- Nueva Ecija
- Quezon
- Laguna
- Batangas
- Cavite(Alfonso, Amadeo, General Emilio Aguinaldo, Indang, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez, Silang, Tagaytay, Ternate, Carmona, Gen. Mariano Alvarez)
- Rizal(Tanay, Jala-Jala, Pililla)
A yellow rainfall warning means flooding is possible particularly in the flood-prone areas of the said cities and provinces.
PAGASA said that the heavy rainfall is due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, and the Super Typhoon Nando.
Nando is moving away from Babuyan Islands and it is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning, September 23.
However, another low pressure area is being monitored near northeastern Mindanao. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
