Tropical Storm may enter PAR on Thursday; 2 systems to bring rain across PH

Tropical Storm Nakri could enter the northeastern boundary of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) either on Thursday afternoon or evening, PAGASA said on Wednesday.

It will be given the local name Quedan once it enters PAR.

As of 4 p.m., the tropical storm was monitored at 1,725 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon. It packs maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

The tropical storm is moving north northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour, and may continue to move generally northwestward once it enters PAR, said PAGASA.

“Nakri is less likely to directly affect the weather and sea conditions in the country throughout the forecast period. No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal will be raised for this tropical cyclone,” the state meteorologists explained.

The tropical storm may exit PAR on the early morning of Friday, October 10.

ITCZ to affect Visayas, Mindanao

Meanwhile, two weather systems will bring rain across the Philippines, according to the state weather bureau's 24-hour weather forecast.

The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.

The ITCZ is the area where the winds of the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere meet, causing weather disturbances like low pressure areas and tropical cyclones/typhoons, according to the state weather bureau.

Meanwhile, the shear line—where cold and warm air converge, creating a narrow zone with sudden change in wind direction—will affect Metro Manila, Central Luzon, mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Rizal, and Quezon with cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Further, the northeasterly windflow is expected to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, and Babuyan Islands.

On the other hand, localized thunderstorms may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.
