Fung-Wong intensifies into severe tropical storm; NE Monsoon affects N. Luzon
Fung-Wong has intensified into a severe tropical storm while the Northeast Monsoon is affecting Extreme Northeastern Luzon on the early morning of Friday.
According to its weather advisory Issued at 4:00 a.m., PAGASA said Fung-Wong is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, as of 3:00 a.m. on November 7.
The tropical cyclone is located 1,525 km east of northeastern Mindanao and has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center.
Its gustiness is up to 115 km/h and moving northwestward at 10 km/h.
In its forecast, the state weather bureau said Batanes and Cagayan will experience cloudy skies with rains caused by the Northeast Monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
The public is warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms
The northern and eastern sections of Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas will have Moderate to Strong winds moving Northeast to Northwest.
The forecast for coastal waters are moderate to rough from 1.5 to 2.8 meters.
