Over 200 mm of rain expected in Quezon, Northern Samar, parts of Bicol until Sunday night
The government's weather bureau on Saturday warned the public of heavy rainfall in the coming days as Typhoon Uwan continues to approach the Philippines.
According to PAGASA's 11 p.m. weather advisory, the following areas are expected to experience significant rainfall:
Saturday to Sunday evening:
Over 200 mm:
Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar
100–200 mm:
Aurora, Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, Marinduque, Masbate, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran
50–100 mm:
Pangasinan, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Leyte
Sunday evening to Monday evening:
Over 200 mm:
Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Zambales
100–200 mm:
Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro
50–100 mm:
Batanes, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte
Monday evening to Tuesday evening:
La Union and Benguet are forecast to receive 100–200 mm of rainfall, while Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and Zambales are expected to see 50–100 mm.
“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” the advisory read.
PAGASA also reported that Typhoon Uwan is rapidly intensifying as it nears the Bicol region.
Catanduanes has already been placed under Signal No. 4, and Signal No. 5 is possible throughout the forecast period, it said.
