PAGASA: Many parts of PH to have stormy weather as Uwan exits

Many parts of the country will continue to experience stormy weather on Monday as Typhoon Uwan continues to exit the Luzon landmass, the state weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. 24-hour public weather forecast, PAGASA said the center of the eye of Uwan was spotted over the coastal waters of Bangar, La Union as of 3 a.m. Monday.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 150 km/h near the center with gustiness of up to 230 km/h, moving west northwestward at 25 km/h.

On Monday, Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON will continue to experience stormy weather due to Uwan.

Meanwhile, Western Visayas and the rest of Luzon will have rains with gusty winds as a result of the typhoon, while the rest of Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of Uwan.

On the other hand, Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Mindanao, Palawan, and the rest of Visayas with have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal conditions.

Sunrise on Monday, November 10 is at 5:55 a.m. while sunset is at 5:25 p.m.

Fifteen areas in Luzon are still under Signal No. 4 even as Uwan weakened into a typhoon as it crossed the Luzon landmass.

This is according to PAGASA’s 2 a.m. tropical cyclone bulletin on Uwan, which is forecast to maintain its strength over the West Philippine Sea until Tuesday, November 11.

Uwan will begin to turn northwestward to northward from Monday until Tuesday while remaining at typhoon category, and will turn northeastward towards the Taiwan Strait on Wednesday.

“It is forecast to make landfall over western Taiwan on Thursday (13 November), then rapidly weaken over the Taiwan landmass before emerging over the waters near Ryukyu Islands before weakening further into a remnant low,” PAGASA said. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
