Storm surge warning up over Luzon, Visayas provinces

Several provinces in Luzon and Visayas are still in danger of experiencing life threatening storm surges due to Typhoon Uwan, state weather bureau PAGASA warned Monday.

In a storm surge warning issued at 8 a.m., PAGASA said there is a possibility of inundation from rising sea water along with high waves in the low-lying coastal communities in the following provinces/municipalities within the next 12 hours:

More than 3 meters

  • Batanes, 
  • Cagayan, 
  • Ilocos Norte, 
  • Ilocos Sur, 
  • La Union, 
  • Pangasinan.

2.1 meters to 3 meters

  • Antique, 
  • Aurora, 
  • Bataan, 
  • Isabela, 
  • La Union, 
  • Occidental Mindoro, 
  • Oriental Mindoro, 
  • Palawan, 
  • Pangasinan, 
  • Quezon, 
  • Zambales.

1 meter to 2 meters

  • Aklan, 
  • Batangas, Bulacan, 
  • Cavite, 
  • Marinduque, 
  • Metro Manila, 
  • Pampanga, 
  • Pangasinan, 
  • Quezon, 
  • Romblon.

PAGASA advised affected residents to stay away from the coast or beach, cancel all marine activities, and move to higher grounds away from the coast and storm surge-prone areas.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
