PAGASA: Verbena, 2 other weather systems affecting PH

Three weather systems – including the newly-formed Tropical Depression Verbena – are affecting the country and will bring cloudy skies and rains, as well as rains with gusty winds on Monday, the state weather bureau said.

In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast, PAGASA said the shear line is affecting the eastern section of Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon is affecting the rest of Northern and Central Luzon.

As of 3 a.m., Verbena was estimated to be 345 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte and is packing maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center with gustiness of 55 km/h. It is moving westward at 30 km/h.

Verbena is expected to bring rains with gusty winds over the Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Caraga, Masbate, Iloilo, and Guimaras on Monday, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

The trough of the tropical depression will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in MIMAROPA, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, and the rest of Bicol Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Pangasinan and the rest of Central Luzon will have cloudy skies with rains as a result of the Northeast Monsoon. The Northeast Monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA said Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon will experience strong winds and rough coastal water conditions.

The rest of Luzon and the rest of Visayas will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions, while the rest of Mindanao will experience moderate winds and moderate coastal water conditions.
