PAGASA: PH to have cloudy skies, rains amid ITCZ, Amihan, easterlies
Three weather systems – the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), the Northeast Monsoon (amihan), and the easterlies – will bring cloudy skies and rains to different parts of the country on Monday, the state weather bureau said.
In its 24-hour public weather forecast early Monday morning, PAGASA said the ITCZ is affecting Mindanao while the Northeast Monsoon is affecting extreme Northern Luzon.
The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms to Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.
The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
Batanes will experience cloudy skies with light rains as a result of the Northeast Monsoon, while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms because of the easterlies.
Meanwhile, Palawan and the rest of Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
On the other hand, PAGASA said Tropical Storm Koto (formerly Verbena) was “almost stationary” and was estimated to be 480 km north northwest of Pag-asa Island, Kalayaan in Palawan as of 3 a.m. Monday with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km/h.
Palawan, Visayas, the rest of Luzon, and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.
