Shear line, amihan to bring cloudy skies, rains over parts of Luzon, eastern Visayas

The shear line and northeast monsoon or amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over parts of Luzon, Visayas on Thursday, PAGASA reported.

As of 3 a.m., the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 705 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas but will have no effect on any part of the country.

However, LPA 12a being monitored by PAGASA inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Samar will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line and flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring because of moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon but this will have no significant impact.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon is moderate to strong moving northeastward with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Sunrise will be at 6:07 a.m. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
