Wilma weakens into LPA, wind signals lifted
Tropical Depression Wilma has weakened into a low pressure area, resulting in wind signals being lifted across the country, PAGASA said Sunday morning.
“Due to unfavorable conditions, Wilma weakened into a Low Pressure Area (LPA) at 8:00 a.m. today,” PAGASA said.
Based on the state weather bureau’s 11 a.m. cyclone bulletin, Wilma was located in the vicinity of Cataingan, Masbate.
State meteorologists on Sunday said the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will bring strong to gale-force gusts over most of Luzon, Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula, especially in coastal and upland areas.
They also said Wilma could become a tropical depression once more when it reaches the West Philippine Sea.
A gale warning is still in effect over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon.
“This LPA will continue moving generally westward or may move west southwestward traversing the area of Southern Luzon and Visayas today through tomorrow,” PAGASA said.
“Once over the West Philippine Sea, re-development into tropical depression is not ruled out,” it added. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
