LPA, shear line, Amihan, easterlies to bring cloudy skies, moderate to heavy rains
The low pressure area (LPA) that was formerly Tropical Depression Wilma and three other weather systems will bring cloudy skies and moderate to heavy rains in different parts of the country on Monday, December 8, the state weather bureau said.
In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast on Monday, PAGASA said the LPA was estimated to be over the coastal waters of Culasi, Antique as of 3 a.m.
MIMAROPA and Western Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms as a result of the LPA, as the state weather bureau also warned of moderate to heavy rains that may cause flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon is affecting the rest of Luzon.
The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.
Metro Manila, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon will experience cloudy skies with rains as a result of the Northeast Monsoon.
Ilocos Region, similarly, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon.
Meanwhile, the Bicol Region will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms as a result of the easterlies.
Mindanao and the rest of Visayas are likely to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms because of localized thunderstorms.
The eastern section of Luzon will experience strong to gale-like winds and rough to very rough coastal water conditions, while the rest of Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions.
The Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters.
