Shear line to bring heavy rains in Cagayan, Isabela
The state weather bureau on Monday night issued a heavy rainfall outlook for Cagayan and Isabela, which may experience heavy rains due to the effects of the shear line affecting the eastern sections of Luzon.
In its 11 p.m. weather advisory for the shear line, PAGASA said Cagayan and Isabela may experience 50 to 100 mm of rainfall from Monday night until Tuesday evening, December 9.
The two provinces may also experience 50 to 100 mm of rain fall from Tuesday evening to Wednesday evening, December 10.
“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant anticedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.
The state weather bureau earlier said the shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon is affecting the rest of Luzon.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area (LPA) that was formerly Tropical Depression Wilma is still inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
As of 8 p.m. Monday, the LPA was estimated to be 100 km southeast of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
PAGASA said the LPA is “unlikely to redevelop into a tropical depression” in the next 24 hours. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
