Cloudy skies, scattered rains forecast across PH

Cloudy skies, scattered rains forecast across PH

Many parts of the country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said a shear line affecting Southern Luzon, combined with the prevailing Northeast Monsoon (Amihan), is expected to influence weather conditions across Luzon, the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.

The Bicol Region, Quezon, Laguna, Batangas, and other nearby provinces can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms driven by the shear line, forecasters said.

PAGASA warned that these conditions could bring moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall that may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of CALABARZON are forecast to experience mainly cloudy skies with light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon, with no significant immediate impacts expected, the agency said.

Eastern sections of Northern Luzon and nearby areas may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Residents in the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan should also prepare for partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused mainly by easterly winds.

PAGASA warned that intense thunderstorms could produce localized heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of flooding and landslides in susceptible communities.

Wind and coastal water conditions will vary by region, according to the weather bureau. Northern and western sections of Northern Luzon may experience moderate to strong northeast winds with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of Luzon and eastern Visayas are expected to have moderate northeast winds with moderate seas, while the remaining parts of the country will see light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal conditions.

Temperatures recorded at the PAGASA Weather Station in Quezon City showed a high of 30.1 degrees Celsius and a low of 23.2 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours, with relative humidity ranging from 63 to 94 percent.
