Amihan, easterlies to bring rains over parts of PH

Amihan, easterlies to bring rains over parts of PH

Northeast Monsoon, or Amihan, will continue to affect extreme northern Luzon, while easterlies will bring rains over several areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday.

Based on its 4 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said Cagayan and Isabela provinces will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to a shear line, and may cause possible flash floods or landslides.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are also expected over the Visayas, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental due to easterlies.

Residents in these areas were advised to stay alert for possible flash floods or landslides during periods of heavy rainfall.

Batanes will have cloudy skies with rains brought about by the Northeast Monsoon, PAGASA added, with moderate to at times heavy rains that could trigger flooding or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by easterlies. PAGASA warns of possible localized flooding during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong northeast winds will prevail over extreme northern Luzon, while the rest of northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong winds from the east to northeast, with coastal waters expected to be moderate to rough at 2.1 to 3.4 meters.
