Amihan surge expected this Christmas week


The surge of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) is expected to affect the country this Christmas week, based on data from MetraWeather, according to a report on Unang Balita on Monday.

The Amihan's surge may be felt today (Monday) and on Thursday.

The Northeast Monsoon refers to cold winds from the northeast that bring rains over the eastern side of the country, PAGASA said.

On Monday morning at 2 a.m., cold temperatures were felt in the following areas, data from PAGASA showed:

  • Baguio City: 17.0ºC
  • Basco: 21.0ºC
  • Tanay: 21.3ºC
  • Tuguegarao: 22.8ºC
  • Quezon City: 24.8ºC

 

PAGASA said a shear line is affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon while the Northeast Monsoon is affecting the rest of Northern Luzon today.

Meanwhile, the easterlies are affecting the rest of the country. —KG, GMA Integrated News
