Amihan, easterlies to bring rains on Christmas Day

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the easterlies are expected to affect weather conditions across most parts of the country on Christmas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday.

In its special weather outlook for Christmas 2025, PAGASA said that on Wednesday, December 24, Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Meanwhile, generally partly cloudy skies with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be experienced mostly over the eastern sections of the country due to the easterlies.

On December 25, the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao are forecast to have mostly cloudy skies with scattered light rains due to Amihan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains will prevail over Metro Manila, MIMAROPA, Central Luzon, the Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the rest of Cagayan Valley, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Rizal.

The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of localized rain showers or thunderstorms will persist over the rest of the country due to the easterlies.

“Light to moderate easterly to northeasterly winds with slight to moderate seas will prevail over the entire archipelago on December 24,” PAGASA said.

“For the rest of the forecast period, winds will be moderate to strong northeasterlies with moderate to rough seas over Northern Luzon, while light to moderate northeasterlies with slight to moderate seas will prevail over the rest of the country,” it added.

PAGASA said the weather outlook will be updated if there are significant changes in the weather pattern—MCG, GMA Integrated News
