3 weather systems to bring rain on New Year’s Eve

A rainy New Year’s Eve is expected in most parts of the country due to three weather systems, PAGASA said Tuesday.

In its 4 p.m. weather forecast, the state weather bureau said Catanduanes will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will persist over Visayas, Mindanao, MIMAROPA, and the rest of Bicol Region due to the easterlies.

PAGASA warned that these weather conditions may trigger flash floods and landslides in the affected areas.

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, with no significant impact.

At 2 p.m., PAGASA said no low pressure areas are being monitored for Tropical Cyclone Formation.

State meteorologists also said the northern and eastern sections of Luzon will experience moderate wind and coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 6:21 a.m. on Wednesday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
