Amihan, shear line, easterlies to bring rains on 1st day of 2026

The Northeast Monsoon or “Amihan” and easterlies are expected to bring rains over different parts of the country as Filipinos welcome the New Year, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.

According to the 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m., the Amihan may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

State meteorologists said that the weather condition will have no significant impact on the said areas.

Moreover, the easterlies are forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Palawan, and the rest of Bicol Region.

The easterlies may also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in Mindanao and the rest of Mimaropa.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in areas affected by the easterlies.

Meanwhile, the shear line may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

The state weather bureau also warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas.

The maximum temperature recorded by PAGASA in the past 24 hours was 29.2°C at 11 a.m., while the lowest temperature recorded was 23.2°C at 5 a.m.
